Auxiliary

Collaboration leads to remarkable life enrichment.

Creating a higher quality of life together.

The RiverWoods Auxiliary roots stem back to 1915, when an Auxiliary was formed at Central Oak Heights as plans were made to open the Evangelical Home and Orphanage. Over the years, its mission has remained steady and dedicated to improving the quality of life for the residents of RiverWoods. The Auxiliary provides services, equipment and furnishings not covered by the community’s budget, and also donates to the Benevolent Care Fund. Since 1970, the RiverWoods Auxiliary has contributed more than $500,000 to enrich the lives of its residents. Learn more about The  Auxiliary through our brochure. Download our brochure here

Creating an open door for membership.

Membership in the Auxiliary is open to all persons who are interested in the well-being of the residents of RiverWoods. Members pay annual dues as set by the Board of Directors of the RiverWoods Auxiliary. Currently, dues are $5.00 per year. Other membership options are Contributing Membership and Memorial/Honor Gifts with membership. Become a member! Download our Membership Application here

Items created in the RiverWoods Woodshop are sold in the RiverWoods Gift Shops.

Meetings

General meetings of the members of the Auxiliary are held on the fourth Tuesday of March, April, June, September, October and November. The meetings are held at 12 pm in Marlow Hall in the Nursing Care Center. Lunch is provided by RiverWoods. Any active member in good standing has the right to vote and to participate in the meetings.

Auxiliary Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways that Auxiliary members can help to support the work of the Auxiliary. The Gift Shop, located in the Nursing Care Center, is staffed by Auxiliary volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering your time in this way, please contact Pam Mauger at (570) 523-9528. Gift Shop items are also sold in RidgeCrest.

The Woodshop is located in the lower level of the pharmacy building and many of the items made there are sold in the Gift Shop and in RidgeCrest. If you are interested in woodworking, please contact Dick Stover, Wood Shop Manager, at (570) 522-0488.

There are additional opportunities for volunteering at RiverWoods throughout the year. Whether it is helping to transport residents in the nursing care center to Sunday worship in Marlow Hall, helping to light luminaries for Grande Illumination in December, or greeting folks as they come to the Adams Center, we need you! Please call 570-522-6234 and ask for the Community Enrichment Director who will connect you to the appropriate person based on your interest.

We would love to discuss how we can help you.

We look forward to hearing from you.
