Auxiliary

Collaboration leads to remarkable life enrichment.

Creating a higher quality of life together.

The RiverWoods Auxiliary roots stem back to 1915, when an Auxiliary was formed at Central Oak Heights as plans were made to open the Evangelical Home and Orphanage. Over the years, its mission has remained steady and dedicated to improving the quality of life for the residents of RiverWoods. The Auxiliary provides services, equipment and furnishings not covered by the community’s budget, and also donates to the Benevolent Care Fund. Since 1970, the RiverWoods Auxiliary has contributed more than $500,000 to enrich the lives of its residents.

Creating an open door for membership.

Membership in the Auxiliary is open to all persons who are interested in the well-being of the residents of RiverWoods. Members pay annual dues as set by the Board of Directors of the RiverWoods Auxiliary. Currently, dues are $5.00 per year. Other membership options are Contributing Membership and Memorial/Honor Gifts with membership.

Meetings

General meetings of the members of the Auxiliary are held on the fourth Tuesday of March, April, June, September, October and November. The meetings are held at 12 pm in Marlow Hall in the Nursing Care Center. Lunch is provided by RiverWoods. Any active member in good standing has the right to vote and to participate in the meetings.

Auxiliary Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways that Auxiliary members can help to support the work throughout the RiverWoods community. Each year, the Auxiliary holds a bake sale during the annual Car Show, held the third Saturday in May. Donations of baked goods are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the front desk of the Nursing Care Center the Friday before the event, or brought to the bake sale table the morning of the event.

Other volunteer opportunities include:

Gift Shop – Jan Bender, Gift Shop Manager, at 570-524-0426
The Woodshop – Dick Stover, Wood Shop Manager, at 570-522-0488
